This project explores revenge porno and the aftermath of the victims. I started to concern about this subject after I watched a short video clip. It started with a plea of one woman, who is a friend of the victim. She appealed against friend’s wrongful death and unfairness of the situation.
According to Hojin-Kim, who runs the company that find and erase requested videos,
he has been requested average 50 times in a month, and 600 times in a year.
Also, most of the victims already committed suicide before the request finished. This made me shocked and hurt my feelings.
This is why I decided to talk about revenge porn and suicide. This project consists of 11 cohesive photos. To show the dark side of the emotion and documentary feel, I use black and white photography. Also, I chose gel medium as my primary medium of the project to represent the delicate status of the victims. The photos are cut by square shape to give a frustrated and trapped feeling of them. All the images have a shadow which represents the burden that the victims have to carry out.
