Artist Statement
Since coming to the US, walking down the street and observing the beautiful houses has become one of my hobbies. The unique exterior of each house looks as though it is exposing its identity to me. Also, it helps me to see the characteristics of the home owners through their houses. Being born and raised up in South Korea and the population is too large in comparison to the size of the country, it is hard to find singe house, but tall and compacted apartments are easy to find. That is why I am drawn to the calmness and uniqueness of western domestic structures.
This series explores the tranquility and isolation of American houses seen through the eyes of a foreigner. Each image focuses on the house’s characteristics and identity.
